We went back to the apartment, ate lunch and took a nice nap before heading out to Congress Ave for the Bat Festival. Every year, white tailed bats from Mexico fly up to Austin and over a million sleep every day under this busy bridge. Then at sundown they all come out at once and go hunt for food. August/September are the best months to see them because it's right after they all have their babies, so there are lots of them. They blocked off the bridge for a huge festival with vendors and food. We stopped early at the bridge to get a front row view of the bats. Right as the sun was going down we started hearing a lot of squeaking and pretty soon thousands of bats started coming at and flying around like crazy! It was so cool to see so many, filling the sky as they flew off.
We took our new car there and it was so comfy and nice, plus we used about half the gas that we usually do in our trucks. Another fun weekend :)
Yay! We had fun, too.
